Meaningful Activities for the Body, Mind, and Spirit

Staying active and engaged isn’t just about passing the time. It’s a cornerstone of health and happiness for older adults and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

At Nevada Senior Services, we believe every activity should enrich daily life — providing joy, structure, and opportunities for connection that make every day meaningful.

A woman in a green shirt and an elderly man in a blue jacket share a moment outside; the woman playfully holds the man's hand while they laugh, with a background of a black metal fence and a brick wall.

Research shows that structured activities can:

The Power of Fun

Fun simply isn’t valued enough! It’s more than a “nice to have". It’s a type of therapy. Laughter lowers stress hormones, releases endorphins, and brings people together in ways that nothing else can.

For our participants, fun might look like dancing to a favorite old song, winning Bingo, celebrating a birthday, or trying something new and realizing… I can still do this! These moments of joy remind every participant that life is still full of possibilities. We don’t just keep people safe — we help them feel alive.
